Our antennas in Himalayas Mountain Expeditions
In the company TRIVAL ANTENE we like to participate with projects representing special challenge and test of innovative capabilities of the company crew as well as test of the quality, functionality and reliability of our products.
In 1977 we accepted the challenge and for alpine expedition on Mt. Everest developed and manufactured HF and VHF antennas for wireless communications between the base and homeland. In the expedition crew beside alpine climbers there were also radioamateurs (Janez Majdic, S51JM and Slavko Šetina, S55SS) concerning for radio communications.
In the time of the expedition, which was very successful with four alpine climbers reached the top (Nejc Zaplotnik, Stane Belak, Andrej Štremfelj and Stipe Bozic), the crew succeed to enable direct communications with homeland although the conditions were far from ideal (nearby high mountains and entirely inadequate ground conditions with thick layer of ice on the ground). All the time the antennas worked well despite of extreme weather conditions.
Considering all those experiences from that expedition we developed a special HF antenna (phased three-element vertical array) for the next expedition on Lho Tse in 1981 which was not so dependable on ground conditions as vertical antennas or wire dipoles. On that expedition our antennas worked also very well enabling every day's communication with homeland. See also the pictures of Tomaz Humar Expedition on Dhaulagiri, performed in October 1999. We helped the crew with two VHF directional antennas. You could see some interesting photos from both expeditions by clicking on them.
